SOLUTION: (B) Kinetic energy of the moving disk is $\displaystyle T = \frac{1}{2} mv^2 + \frac{1}{2} I_{c.m.} \omega^2$ = $\displaystyle = \frac{1}{2} mv^2 + \frac{1}{2} \cdot \frac{1}{2} m R^2 \left( \frac{v}{R} \right)^2 = \frac{1}{2} mv^2 + \frac{1}{4} mv^2 = \frac{3}{4} mv^2$. The conservation of energy gives $T = mgh$, from which one has $\displaystyle h = \frac{3 v^2}{4g}$.
